The number of French students in the US during 2016/17 slightly increased, according to IIE figures.
France students shared less than 1 percent of over a million foreign students in the US in 2016/17.
Exactly, they accounted for just 0.8 percent of the total number of international students in the US in 2016/17.
Only 8,814 French students were attending a US university or a college in 2016/17 being ranked this way as 18th place of origin country of international students in the US.
However, the number of them grew up slightly by 0.6 percent from 7,874 students in 2015/16 up to 8,814 in 2016/17.
Though the number of France students in the US slightly on the rise, the opposite is not the same.
US students studying abroad increased in number in all European countries, except in France and Greece.
Out of 325,339 US students studying abroad in 2016/17, only 5.3 percent or 17,214 of them were in France.
The number of US students choosing France as their study destination dropped by -5.4 percent between 2015/16 and 2016/17. To be more accurate, the number of them fell from 18,198 in 2015/16 to 17,214 in 2016/17.
France is ranked 4th on top 5 destinations for the US abroad students, but if this falling trend continues in the upcoming years they will descend even more.
